SINAIT, Ilocos Sur — A 44-year-old man tagged as the prime suspect in the killing of a businesswoman in Badoc, Ilocos Norte was arrested after police raided his rented house here and seized a .45-caliber pistol and 21 rounds of ammunition on Wednesday night, August 26.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Rod,” married, and a resident of Badoc, was arrested by personnel of the Sinait Municipal Police Station (MPS) during the implementation of a search warrant for alleged violation of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police said “Rod” was linked to the August 21 gunslaying of alias “Liza,” a married businesswoman from Sitio Alalucap, Barangay Labut, Badoc, Ilocos Norte.
The search warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court, First Judicial Region, Branch 24 in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, following an application filed by the Sinait MPS.
Aside from the .45-caliber firearm and 21 rounds of ammunition, police also seized three .45-caliber magazines and a belt bag.
“Rod” is now facing charges for violation of RA 10591, while police continue to build their case over the businesswoman’s killing.
