Delivery rider surrenders package of marijuana he was hired to deliver to Laguna

STA. CRUZ, Laguna- A delivery rider voluntarily surrendered suspected illegal drugs worth P220,000 to police here on Aug. 27, here.

Santa Cruz Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Poblacion 3, Santa Cruz, Laguna.

According to the rider, he picked up the parcels in front of Tanza Doctors Hospital in Tanza, Cavite, and was instructed him to deliver it to Barangay Sto. Angel Sur, Santa Cruz, Laguna at about 2:30 a.m.

Upon arriving at the designated delivery location, the intended recipient reportedly fled before the transaction could be completed.

He suspected that the parcels contained illegal substances, and he proceeded to the Sta. Cruz MPS and voluntarily turned over the items to authorities.

The items were turned over

eight unsealed paper boxes, each containing a plastic pouch and avape pen labeled “Tiny,” containing a liquid substance suspected to be marijuana. The items have an estimated value of P20,000 a bundle of suspected dried marijuana leaves, weighing approximately one kilogram, with an estimated value of P200,000.

Police Lt. Col. Jojo Sabeniano, Sta. Cruz police chief commended the rider for his integrity and cooperation with law enforcement.

“This is a clear example of community partnership. The driver did the right thing—he refused to participate in illegal activity and helped prevent prohibited substances from circulating in our community. We encourage everyone to follow his lead and report suspicious items or transactions to the nearest police station.” Sabeniano added.

The Sta. Cruz MPS continues to encourage members of the community to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious packages, transactions, or other activities that may be connected to illegal drugs.
