Woman nabbed for P40K unpaid cockfight bet in QC

A 29‑year‑old woman was arrested after allegedly failing to settle a P40,000 cockfight bet she lost in Novaliches, Quezon City, on Tuesday night, Aug. 25.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Jen,” a resident of General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, allegedly placed the bet at a cockpit on Sarmiento St., Barangay Sta. Monica, at around 11 p.m.
Before the bet was accepted, Jen allegedly assured the collector that she had sufficient means to pay the P40,000 after the cockfight.
However, she allegedly lost the bet and failed to settle the amount despite repeated demands from the complainant.
Jen reportedly told the complainant that she was waiting for her boss to provide the money, but no payment was made.
The complainant then sought police assistance, prompting personnel of Novaliches Police Station 4 to respond to the area.
Police arrested Jen at around 11:30 p.m.
A betting ticket corresponding to the P40,000 wager was recovered from her.
Jen is set to face a complaint for estafa before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
