Man arrested for bathroom spying in Malate

A 32‑year‑old man was arrested in Malate, Manila, for installing a hidden camera to record people inside a workplace bathroom, police said.
The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect only as “Arvin,” a resident of Muntinlupa City.
Police said a 39‑year‑old woman discovered a black, pen‑like device hidden behind the toilet bowl while showering around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25.
After retrieving the device, she found a memory card inside and later confirmed online that it was a mini spy camera.
The victim showed the device to co‑workers, who checked the memory card and found videos of her showering, along with footage allegedly showing the suspect setting up the camera.
She reported the incident to Barangay 724, which coordinated with police for the suspect’s arrest. 
He was taken into custody at the Malate Police Station around 5:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Authorities said he will face charges under Republic Act 9995, the Anti‑Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009. (Shane Quiachon)
