Land dispute ends in fatal stabbing in Isabela

ILAGAN CITY, Isabela — A long‑standing land dispute turned fatal after a 58‑year‑old construction worker was stabbed to death by a 46‑year‑old farmer during an altercation at the boundary of two barangays here on Aug. 26.
Police identified the victim as alias “Ammak” and the suspect as alias “Paco,” both residents of Barangay Sindun Maride.
The two reportedly crossed paths while riding their motorcycles near Sitio Lamang, between Barangays Sindun Bayabo and Sindun Maride, shortly after 7 a.m.
Investigators said the victim stopped Paco and stabbed him in the right arm during a confrontation.
The victim fled but was chased down by Paco.
In a second clash, Paco allegedly wrested the knife and repeatedly stabbed Ammak, killing him.
Paco later surrendered to barangay officials and was turned over to personnel of the 201st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 2.
Police recovered the knife and are continuing their investigation.
Initial findings point to a previous land dispute as the trigger for the attack.
Charges against Paco are being prepared.
