Fire officer hurt, 18 families displaced in Muntinlupa blaze

A fire officer was injured and 18 families were displaced in a blaze that hit Barangay Cupang, Muntinlupa, on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
The Muntinlupa City Fire Station said the fire broke out at about 10:40 p.m. at a house in East Kabulusan along East Service Road.
Eight houses were razed, affecting 50 individuals, according to the city’s Social Services Department (SSD).
Senior Fire Officer I Ric Jayson Celis, 44, sustained an electrical burn and was rushed by the Philippine Red Cross Muntinlupa ambulance to Medical Center Muntinlupa for treatment.
Firefighters raised the first alarm at 10:51 p.m. before declaring the fire out at 11:46 p.m. Damage was estimated at P25,000.
The SSD conducted mapping, assessments, intake interviews, and distributed disaster cards to the affected families.
The city government said it will provide food and non food relief, recommend financial assistance, and refer families to other agencies for special needs.
