Vlogger among five arrested in P748-K drug sting in Bacolod

BACOLOD CITY - A 35-year-old vlogger was among the five arrested in anti-illegal drug operations here on Tuesday, August 25, which also resulted in the confiscation of P748,000 worth of suspected shabu.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Negros Island Region (PDEA-NIR) apprehended the vlogger named Jo and his 32-year-old companion Chris, both residents of Barangay 10 here, where the drug bust operation was conducted.
The agency tagged both suspects as alleged notorious drug pushers, who reportedly yielded 13 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 50 grams valued at P340,000, and an improvised tooter.
In a media interview, the vlogger denied the allegation against him and his companion, saying they never engage in illegal drug activity. "We do not deserve this," Jo said in a local dialect.
The arrested individuals will face charges for violation of Sections 5 and 11 (sale and possession of dangerous drugs) and 12 (possession of drug paraphernalia) Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Both suspects are detained at Police Station 2.
Meanwhile, the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) arrested a high value individual (HVI) and two street level individuals in a buy-bust operation in Zone 1, Barangay Handumanan here.
The operation led to the recovery of 60 grams of suspected shabu worth P408,000, along with four homemade firearms and ammunition.
The suspects were identified as alias Noy, 34, an HVI; Mel, 31, both residents of Barangay Handumanan; and Bal, 32, of Barangay Felisa here.
During the operation, Mel allegedly assisted Noy, who reportedly acted as the doorman, while Bal was identified as the alleged customer.‎
Recovered during the operation were 22 sachets of suspected shabu, the P1,000 marked money, a homemade .45 caliber firearm loaded with seven live ammunition, three homemade .38 caliber firearm loaded with four live ammunition, a .45 caliber magazine loaded with seven live ammunition, and other non-drug items.
Police said that Noy was allegedly actively engaging in the sale of illegal drugs and was reportedly in possession of several firearms obtained from his customers.
Further information revealed that the subject allegedly caused alarm and scandal when intoxicated, while concerned neighbors reported the frequent presence of unidentified motorcycles and unfamiliar individuals entering and leaving his residence, even during the early hours of the morning, according to Police Regional Office (PRO)-NIR.
The three suspects are detained at Police Station 10.
In a statement, Police Brig. Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO-NIR director, said the operation reflects their firm and continuing commitment to keeping illegal drugs and loose firearms out of the communities.
"We will not allow illegal drugs and firearms to take root in our communities," he added.
