San Roque Dam to release water; 11 Pangasinan towns on alert

PANGASINAN---Residents of 11 towns in Pangasinan have been alerted following the scheduled opening of one gate of the Low Level Outlet (LLO) of San Roque Dam at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26.

The advisory covered towns are San Manuel, San Nicolas, Asingan, Tayug, Santa Maria, Rosales, Villasis, Santo Tomas, Alcala, Bautista, and Bayambang.

The National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) said the water level of the dam reached 275.45 meters above sea level (MASL), prompting the planned water release.

Around 150 cubic meters per second (cms) of water is expected to be discharged as the southwest monsoon, or habagat, continues to affect the area.

Residents living near rivers and riverbanks, were advised to remain vigilant and undertake necessary precautionary measures in anticipation of possible changes in water levels.

Local disaster risk reduction and management offices were also urged to immediately disseminate the advisory to their respective communities.

Authorities are closely monitoring the situation and continue to track the dam’s water level and prevailing weather conditions.
