Tributes from musicians, actors, politicians and fans around the world have poured in following the death of country music icon Dolly Parton, who died at the age of 80 on August 25.

Among the first to pay tribute was Miley Cyrus, Parton's goddaughter.

“I can’t believe we just lost the purest soul. Rest in Glory, Dolly. My heart aches,” Cyrus wrote on X.

She later added, “RIP Dolly, you transcended time & you live in the hearts of entire generations.”

British music icon Sir Elton John also expressed his grief, describing Parton as “a giant of an artist.”

“Shocked and devastated to hear of Dolly’s passing. A giant of an artist – unique and irreplaceable, with the kindest heart,” he wrote on Instagram.

Sir Paul McCartney likewise remembered Parton as a remarkable artist and philanthropist.

“She was such a wonderful woman,” McCartney wrote, recalling meeting Parton at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville early in her career.

Parton’s longtime "9 To 5" co-star Lily Tomlin also paid tribute, sharing a black-and-white photo of the two actresses along with a broken-heart emoji and the words, “No words…”

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced that American flags would be lowered across the country for one week in Parton’s honor.

The Empire State Building was also set to glow pink in tribute to Parton.

Rapper Eminem also remembered Parton by sharing a personal note she had written to him before her death.

The Detroit rapper said the message had a profound impact on him despite the two never getting the opportunity to meet.

“I’m sorry we never got a chance to meet, but getting this note from Dolly really had an impact on me. She definitely didn’t have to take the time to do it,” Eminem wrote on X.

He recalled Parton as an icon even though country music was not his primary musical influence.

“Even for a kid who mostly listened to rap music, she was an icon. A superstar in every sense. Rest easy Dolly. And thank you for the kind words,” he added.

In the handwritten message, Parton congratulated Eminem on his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and praised his talent. She also told him that she felt an “unexplained connection” to him and encouraged him to continue making music. “No matter how complex your world may be just know you are very special and touch people in ways you don’t even know,” Parton wrote.

Parton leaves behind a legacy spanning decades of music, film, television, business, and philanthropy, with generations of artists now remembering the impact she made both on and beyond the country music scene.

Over a career spanning nearly seven decades, she became a celebrated singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur and philanthropist, with classics such as “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You” and “9 to 5” becoming part of popular music history.

Beyond entertainment, Parton was known for her extensive philanthropic work. Through the Dollywood Foundation and its Imagination Library, she helped provide free books to children around the world, inspired by her father, who never learned to read or write. Her work in literacy, disaster relief, medical research, and other charitable causes further cemented her reputation as an artist whose impact extended well beyond the stage.
