Manila Water unit pivots from contractor to full-lifecycle water infra manager

Manila Water Infratech Solutions (MWIS), the non-East Zone operating arm of Manila Water Co., is expanding its service offerings to manage and maintain third-party water assets, seeking to capture a broader market among industrial parks, commercial property developers, and local government units.
In a statement on Wednesday, Aug. 26, Manila Water said its unit is introducing full operations and maintenance (O&M), combining engineering and construction capabilities with long-term asset management.
Manila Water said the pivot transforms MWIS from a traditional project contractor into a full-lifecycle infrastructure manager offering an integrated model covering design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
The expansion comes as private property developers and municipalities face mounting regulatory scrutiny and rising operational costs related to wastewater compliance and environmental standards.
Under the expanded framework, MWIS will oversee daily plant management, sewage treatment, preventive and corrective maintenance, process optimization, and desludging operations.
The unit aims to lower operating overhead for clients while extending the working lifespan of critical treatment assets.
The move leverages the broader operational experience of parent company Manila Water, which holds the concession for the East Zone of Metro Manila and has been building out its footprint outside its traditional service area.
“At MWIS, our goal is to be more than a project delivery partner,” said Adrian Bryan Magallanes, general manager of MWIS. 
“With the introduction of our Operations and Maintenance services, we are expanding our role across the entire asset lifecycle, helping clients maximize the value of their investments through reliable, efficient, and sustainable operations,” he added.
By bundling long-term plant management into its primary construction offerings, MWIS aims to secure recurring service revenue while positioning itself against regional competitors in the expanding Southeast Asian industrial water sector.
