A 25-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning, Aug. 25, after allegedly stealing P12,000 worth of auto parts from a garage in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Nard,” who entered the garage with a companion at about 3:20 a.m. and took several auto parts from the shop at the corner of San Lorenzo Ruiz and San Vicente streets.
The shop owner witnessed the theft and immediately sought help from patrolling officers of the Payatas Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13).
A brief chase followed, resulting in Nard’s arrest, while his companion escaped and remained at large.
Recovered from Nard were two car alternators worth P3,000, an electric starter worth P1,000, and a radiator worth P8,000.
Police records showed that Nard had previous cases, including alarms and scandals and a violation of Batas Pambansa Blg. 6 in 2023; violation of Presidential Decree No. 1602 or illegal gambling in 2024; and violations of Republic Act No. 9287 or the Anti-Illegal Numbers Games Act in 2025.
Nard will face a theft complaint before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office, while police continue their follow-up operation to arrest his companion.
