These 5 schools will soon offer 55 micro-credentials for upskilling, reskilling

Five higher education institutions (HEIs) have been recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to offer 55 for-credit micro-credentials in fields ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity to healthcare, tourism, and culinary arts.
The newly recognized providers are St. Scholastica’s College Manila, World Citi Colleges, University of the Visayas, Saint Tonis College, Inc., and Brokenshire College, Inc.
Saint Tonis College, Inc. has the largest number of approved offerings among the five, with 22 micro-credentials in information technology, programming, hospitality, culinary arts, teaching and learning, and professional skills.
World Citi Colleges will offer 12 micro-credentials covering cybersecurity, AI, digital marketing, e-commerce, workplace communication, and related fields.
The University of the Visayas will offer 10 micro-credentials focused on application and use cases, data analytics, data engineering, data science, machine learning, and platform administration.
St. Scholastica’s College Manila will offer six micro-credentials in tourism, hospitality, events management, recreation, food entrepreneurship, and culinary sustainability.
Brokenshire College, Inc. will offer five micro-credentials in cultural and literacy appreciation and specialized healthcare competencies, including phlebotomy and malarial microscopy.
CHED said the recognition of the five HEIs as providers of the approved for-credit micro-credentials is valid for three years.
“By expanding access to shorter, targeted learning options, micro-credentials can help students build additional competencies alongside their degree programs and allow workers to upskill or reskill as industry needs change,” CHED said.
Under CHED Memorandum Order No. 1, series of 2025, micro-credentials are short, focused learning courses designed to develop and certify specific knowledge, skills, values, and competencies.
They may be offered within a higher education program or as stand-alone learning opportunities and may also be developed by HEIs in partnership with industry.
The five institutions were evaluated by CHED’s Office of Programs and Standards Development and the Technical Working Group on Lifelong Learning and were found compliant with the documentary and micro-credential requirements.
