Foldables have taken the tech world by storm this year. Although they have been around since 2018, they've captured only a niche part of the market. Early adopters and adventurous tech enthusiasts were the ones brave enough to buy their own foldable phone. Things have changed now that these phones have had multiple versions already. This means smartphone manufacturers have mastered the durability and production quality of these phones, despite the complex screens and hinges that make them fold.
HONOR joins the red-hot foldable market in 2026 with the HONOR Magic V6. It weighs only 219 g and is 8.75 mm thick. Despite its slim body, it packs a 6660 mAh battery and a triple-camera setup with a 50 MP wide lens, 64 MP telephoto, and 50 MP ultrawide lens. The Magic V6 is also very durable for a foldable phone, with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, plus drop resistance. Now let’s unfold the different features of the HONOR Magic V6 and see where it can stand in the ultra-competitive foldable market in 2026.
Unboxing the magic
From the feel and build quality of the HONOR Magic V6, you can already tell it is a premium phone. It comes in a large black box with a charging brick, a USB-C cable, and a phone case with a kickstand to help you use the HONOR Magic V6's features.
The HONOR Magic V6 only weighs around 219g, which is impressive for a foldable phone. Despite its larger foldable screen, it weighs about the same as a slab phone. This makes the HONOR Magic V6 very easy to use for hours at a time, even if you have small hands like mine. It also has an impressively slim profile, measuring just 8.75 mm when folded and 4.0 mm when unfolded. This makes it easier to use than other foldables with a similar form factor.
One standout feature of the HONOR Magic V6 is its durability. It uses space-grade aluminum and a high-tensile, aerospace-grade alloy for its HONOR Super Steel Hinge. This material can withstand up to 500,000 folds and has an industry-leading tensile strength of 2800 MPa. Since the hinge is one of the most crucial parts of a folding phone, it is impressive how much attention HONOR has given it to ensure it's durable enough for the many folds the phone will experience over its lifetime.
It is also IP68 and IP69 rated against dust and water exposure. HONOR testing shows it can even handle pressurized water jets. It also has an AI-assisted bionic cushioning system that absorbs impact and distributes it evenly, reducing damage from accidental drops or everyday use. Viewing the magic
One of the HONOR Magic V6's strengths is its display. With its 6.52-inch outer display, a 7.95-inch inner foldable display, and an adaptive 1–120 Hz refresh rate, it is very enjoyable to consume content whether it’s watching your favorite YouTube video or doomscrolling on social media. You can enjoy content indoors or outdoors, thanks to the outer display’s peak brightness of 6,000 nits, while the inner display hits 5,000 nits.
One of the main drawbacks of a foldable phone is the notorious crease that can detract from the overall display experience. In previous iterations of foldable phones from other brands, the crease can be quite noticeable, especially when your finger runs across it or when you watch content. But I barely noticed the crease with the HONOR Magic V6. The display felt cohesive and even, and the stronger hinge didn’t detract from the viewing experience. HONOR achieved this by utilizing UTG flexible glass for the inner display, while HONOR Anti-scratch NanoCrystal Shield reinforces the outer display.
Capturing the magic
Just by looking at the HONOR Magic V6, you can easily see its prominent cameras. It features the HONOR AI Falcon Camera System: a 50MP Ultra Light Sensitive Main Camera, a 64MP Ultra Sensing Periscope Telephoto Camera with a 1/2-inch sensor and CIPA 6.5-stop image stabilization, and a 50MP Ultra-Wide Camera. The cameras are quite impressive, especially since foldable phones usually don’t focus on their camera features.

Wielding the magic
Since the HONOR Magic V6 is lightweight and has a slim profile, you wouldn’t expect much from its battery. But I was pleasantly surprised at how much the phone lasted throughout the day. When I left the house, it was at 92%, and I came home to 70%. The impressive battery life comes from its 6,660mAh HONOR Silicon-carbon Battery, the largest in the foldable market.
Paired with the large battery is a powerful Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, which makes multitasking and gaming run smoothly. The phone even has a game manager mode that makes notifications and other apps easier to manage while you play.
For the AI power users, the HONOR Magic V6 has a whole suite of HONOR AI Agents—including AI Settings Agent, AI Photos Agent, AI Suggestion, and AI Screen Suggestions. It is also integrated with Google Gemini, so a simple gesture can activate it and help with whatever you need or what’s on your screen. The phone also includes a three-month trial of Google AI Pro at no additional cost to help you make the most of Google Gemini’s features.
