Parañaque intensifies drainage works after floods

Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez has directed intensified drainage repairs and monitoring in communities hit by flooding last week, even as Sucat Road remained clear during heavy rains.
City engineers and environment officials have identified Ascual Compound, Valley 2, Valley 14, Belisario, and parts of El Dorado and Don Bosco as priority sites for clearing, maintenance, and rehabilitation of drainage systems.
Olivarez stressed the need for continuous monitoring, especially during downpours, to quickly address clogged lines, garbage buildup, and other obstructions.
He said pinpointing flood‑prone areas allows the city to focus resources on targeted flood‑control measures.
The City Engineering Office and CENRO are coordinating with other departments for immediate interventions, while personnel stand ready to conduct clearing operations.
The mayor also urged residents to help by disposing of waste properly and keeping waterways free of trash.
Officials said ongoing drainage rehabilitation is part of Parañaque’s broader flood‑mitigation program to reduce risks in vulnerable communities.
