Duterte family celebrates grandma's 100th birthday

DAVAO CITY – Davao City First District Rep. Paolo Z. Duterte, his sister Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, and their family celebrated the 100th birthday of their grandmother, Puring Zimmerman, honoring her life and role in their family.
In a birthday greeting, Rep. Duterte described his grandmother’s century-long life as a collection of stories, sacrifices, family memories, challenges, and moments that helped shape succeeding generations.
“Happy 100th birthday, sa among pinalanggang lola (to our beloved grandmother) Puring Zimmerman!” Rep. Duterte said.
Rep. Duterte said grandmothers often serve as the heart of Filipino families, remembering birthdays, preparing food for loved ones, and giving advice that family members may only appreciate later.
He thanked his grandmother for the love and wisdom she had shared with their family and described her presence as a blessing.
“Today, we celebrate not only your 100 years, Lola Puring, but the love and wisdom you have shared with our family,” the congressman said.
Rep. Duterte also wished their grandmother continued happiness and said he hoped she would remain surrounded by family, love, and laughter.
“Happy centennial birthday, Lola Puring!” he said. “We love you!”
