Drunk cop arrested after causing disturbance at Ilocos Sur waterfall
NAGBUKEL, Ilocos Sur — A 44-year-old police personnel was arrested after allegedly causing a disturbance, assaulting a responding police officer, and threatening other officers at Ambarangan Waterfalls in Barangay Mission, Nagbukel, Ilocos Sur, Sunday.
The incident began after police received a report of three consecutive gunshots allegedly fired at the popular waterfall.
Responding officers from the Nagbukel Municipal Police Station rushed to the area but found no evidence of a shooting incident upon arrival.
PMaj. Alberto Ramos Jr., chief of the Nagbukel police, said the suspect, who is assigned to the Narvacan Municipal Police Station, was allegedly intoxicated and was throwing objects, alarming visitors at the site.
The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly kicked PCpl. Marjille Villegas, prompting the responding officers to restrain and handcuff him.
Ramos said the suspect continued resisting while officers were assisting him out of the water and allegedly threatened to kill him.
The suspect was brought into police custody for investigation.
Police are now looking into the reported gunshots and the circumstances that led to the alleged assault and threats against the responding officers.
