Rider, passenger killed in Marilaque Highway collision
A 19-year-old motorcycle rider and his passenger died after their motorcycle allegedly crossed into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming vehicle along Marilaque Highway in Baras, Rizal, early Sunday, Aug. 23.
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) said the incident occurred around 12:45 a.m. when a Toyota Tamaraw FX was traveling toward Tanay, while the victims were headed in the opposite direction.
Police said that upon reaching a curved portion of the highway in Barangay Pinugay, the victims’ vehicle allegedly crossed into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with the FX.
Due to the impact, the rider and his 19-year-old passenger sustained serious injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
Meanwhile, police arrested the FX driver as the case is being investigated for possible charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide and damage to property.
