Senator Loren Legarda has sent notice extending her medical leave to September 2.
Senate Secretary Renato Bantug confirmed this on Monday, August 24, saying the senator sent notice of her leave from the plenary sessions and the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte from August 24 to 26 and September 1 and 2.
This is the fourth medical leave Legarda has filed. She last filed for medical leave on August 3 to 5, August 11 to 12, and August 17 to 19.
Authorities earlier said Legarda reportedly left the country for France on August 2 after the Office of the Ombudsman announced that she and her son, Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste are being investigated over alleged graft and plunder in supposed “ghost” solar projects worth P10-billion.
Legarda has since denied the allegations saying these are “utterly false” and “baseless.”
