Police arrested a man who allegedly posed as a Philippine Army member during an operation inside a resto bar in Las Piñas City early Monday, Aug. 24.

Las Piñas Police chief Col. Fermin Armendarez identified the suspect as Noe, 34, who was arrested at about 1:20 a.m. inside the establishment along J. Aguilar Avenue in Barangay Pulanglupa Dos.

Armendarez said operatives from the CAA Substation were conducting "Oplan Bakal," a campaign against unauthorized firearms, bladed weapons, and explosives in public areas and drinking establishments.

During the operation, Noe allegedly introduced himself as a Philippine Army member and told the police that he was carrying a firearm inside his belt bag.

Police officers asked him to present his military identification card, but he reportedly failed to do so.

The suspect, however, presented a License to Own and Possess Firearms, Firearm Registration, and Permit to Carry Firearms Outside Residence, police said.

Recovered from him were a .45-caliber pistol, five magazines, 49 rounds of live ammunition, and a black belt bag.

Noe was brought to the Station Investigation and Detection Management Section for further investigation and the filing of complaints for alleged usurpation of authority and violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
