Cops probe threat on Kabankalan public school teacher

BACOLOD CITY - Police are investigating an online threat against another upland public high school, and this time its teacher-in-charge in Barangay Magballo, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Police Lt. Nolly Gudaca, deputy chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said an unidentified person using a dummy social media account posted the threat on Saturday, August 22, warning that the 30-year-old teacher-in-charge would be beheaded.
The suspect also threatened to cause trouble at the school as he claimed to have already planted explosives on campus.
During a briefing Monday, August 24, Gudaca said police found no suspicious items in the school. Classes proceeded normally as authorities increased security in the area.
The social media account was deactivated hours after the post circulated. Police have coordinated with the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) to trace and identify the person behind the threat.
Gudaca said the teacher had only been assigned to the school about two weeks ago and had no idea who could be behind the threat.
Police have also deployed additional force multipliers to help maintain peace and order in and around the school.
The incident came a week after a false bomb threat was reported at another upland public high school in neighboring Barangay Bantayan, Kabankalan City.
Authorities said a total of four school-related threats have now been reported in Kabankalan City.
“Any threat is a serious concern. We cannot neglect it,” Gudaca said.
