184 wanted persons arrested in Baguio from April to July

BAGUIO CITY -- The Baguio City Poluce Office reported a  total of 184 wanted persons were arrested by combined police operatives and intelligence units from April 1 to July 22, 2026, as part of the intensified campaign against wanted individuals.

BCPO City Director Police Col. Ruel Tagel reported the significant accomplishment during the  third-quarter joint meeting of the City Peace and Order Council (CPOC) and the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), noting that the figure surpassed last year's accomplishment for the same period by 21 arrests.

Tagel attributed the increase to intensified operations against wanted persons and the continued efforts of law enforcement units to locate and apprehend individuals with pending warrants, whether within or outside the city.

He said that while the number of arrested most wanted persons declined compared to the previous year, the BCPO continues to strengthen intelligence monitoring, target profiling, and coordinated operations to facilitate the apprehension of priority fugitives.

Meanwhile, the BCPO sustained its campaign against loose firearms, reporting an increase in operations conducted from 47 to 49, resulting in the recovery, confiscation, or surrender of 49 firearms.

Tagel said the increased number of firearms removed from circulation reflects the effectiveness of the city's intensified law enforcement initiatives in reducing the possible use of loose firearms in the commission of crimes.

The BCPO continues to strengthen checkpoint operations, intelligence monitoring, and public awareness campaigns to promote responsible firearm ownership and ensure compliance with Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law.

Tagel emphasized that the continued implementation of these initiatives forms part of BCPO's commitment to enhancing public safety, maintaining peace and order, and preventing criminal activities in Baguio City.
