On the 43rd anniversary of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.’s death, his grandson, Bimby Aquino, shared his hope that the younger generation would take time to learn more about the late senator and his legacy through research.
Kris Aquino's youngest son was present at his grandfather's tomb for a mass that was held last Aug. 21.
In an interview , Bimby urged young people like him, who were not yet born when Ninoy was alive, to take time to learn more about him.
"Research po. There’s a lot of videos of Lolo on YouTube. You’ll really get to know him as a person. We never had a conversation with him. But just research and trust reliable sources," Bimby said.
Also present at the gathering was Bimby's cousin, Francis Joseph “Kiko” Aquino Dee, who also shared his thoughts on learning about his late grandfather.
"We’re learning about him the same way most Filipinos do. Hindi namin siya naabutan. So, we hope that people can get to know him the way we did," Francis said.
When asked what he would tell Ninoy if given the chance to speak with him, Bimby said: “Words cannot express the amount of things I want to say to him. But [I would say] thank you, thank you for doing what he did for our country and for being a good dad to my mom and to my titas and Tito Noy.”
