PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr, presides over the turnover ceremony between outgoing NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin and his successor, Police Brig Gen. Christopher Abrahano on Sunday, August 23, 2026. Aberin, who held the post since 2014, reached the mandatory retirement age of 56.
Police Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano vowed police visibility and quick response in Metro Manila as he assumed the top post of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
Abrahano assumed the top police post in Metro Manila as officer-in-charge on Sunday, Aug. 23, or the date that his predecessor, Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin who held the NCRPO director post since 2024, reached the mandatory retirement age of 56.
In his speech, Abrahano said Metro Manila residents should expect active measures to prevent crime and quick response in every call for assistance and emergency situations.
“Our duty is simple to be ready, to respond properly and to earn the public's trust. Today I accept the responsibility of leading the NCRPO. The NCRPO, under my leadership, will be an active partner in ensuring a secure, peaceful and progressive Metro Manila,” said Abrahano.
For Abrahano, the role of the PNP based on the instruction of PNP chief Gen. Jos Melencio C. Nartatez, Jr., is simple: Police service that is fast and felt by the people.
And this, he said, is exactly what Metro Manila residents should expect from the NCPO under his leadership.
“To the people of Metro Manila, expect your police to be present, responsive, professional and respectful. You don’t need influence, or connections to receive proper police service,” said Abrahano.
“Our commitment is simple: every beat covered, every call answered,” said Abrahano.
A member of the PNP Academy Class of 1996, Abrahano was the director of the Police Regional Office 10, or Northern Mindanao before his appointment as NCRPO director.
He was then the director of the Caraga regional police when he was tapped to head the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) and replaced its head who figured in a controversy over the missing sabungeros case.
He briefly served as CIDG as he was replaced by Maj. Gen. Robert Alexander Morico. After that Abrahano was named as head of the Northern Mindanao regional police.
Other positions held by Abrahano was the head of the Aviation Security Group and provincial director of Ilocos Norte.
