6-year-old girl drowns in Negros beach resort

BACOLOD CITY - A six-year-old girl reportedly drowned in the waters off a beach resort in Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Friday, August 21.
Police reported that based on the account of the victim's older sister, they decided to go swimming at the beach resort along with another sibling, and two minor neighbors.
Upon their arrival at the beach resort, they proceeded toward the seashore.
The victim went near the shoreline but accidentally made her way to a deeper portion of the shore, where she was unable to withstand the waves.
Her minor companions attempted to rescue her but failed.
A policeman and beach goers rescued the victim and sought the help of the town's rescue team. However, the victim was declared dead in a hospital.
