VM Chi named among country's outstanding vice mayors

Manila Vice Mayor Chi Atienza was honored as one of the country’s top outstanding vice mayors, ranking 3rd at the Gawad Pilipino Awards in Quezon City.
Atienza was recognized as the 3rd Outstanding Vice Mayor in the Philippines during the awarding ceremony at the AFP Commissioned Officers Club House in Camp Aguinaldo.
The award recognizes local presiding officers and lawmakers for exemplary governance, community-driven legislation, and proactive public service. Atienza, who is serving her first year as presiding officer of the 13th Manila City Council, dedicated the recognition to the people of Manila.
“Maraming, maraming salamat po sa Gawad Pilipino Awards sa pagkilalang ito bilang 3rd Outstanding Vice Mayor in the Philippines. Sobrang laking bagay po nito para sa akin, pero higit sa lahat, para po ito sa ating minamahal na lungsod dahil hindi ko po ito magagawa nang mag-isa (Thank you very much to the Gawad Pilipino Awards for recognizing me as the 3rd Outstanding Vice Mayor in the Philippines. This means so much to me, but more than anything, this is for our beloved city because I could not have done this alone),” Atienza said.
“Kasama ko ang buong pamahalaan ng Maynila, ang City Council, at si Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso na laging nangunguna sa mga programang direktang nakakatulong sa tao (I have the entire Manila city government, the City Council, and Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso with me, who always leads programs that directly help the people),” she added.
Atienza said the recognition would motivate her to pursue more progressive measures as presiding officer of the city council.
“Ito po ay magsisilbing isang inspirasyon para sa akin para pagbutihan pa lalo ang aking trabaho bilang Presiding Officer ng 13th City Council. Maraming salamat po sa tiwala at suporta. Magsisipag pa po tayong maglingkod para sa ating lungsod (This will serve as an inspiration for me to do even better in my work as Presiding Officer of the 13th City Council. Thank you very much for your trust and support. We will continue to work hard in serving our city),” Atienza said.
Meanwhile, 4th District Councilor Eunice Ann Denice Castro was also recognized as one of the country’s Outstanding Councilors.
The Office of the Vice Mayor said the recognition highlights the collaborative work of the 13th Manila City Council and reaffirmed its commitment to closer coordination between the city’s executive and legislative branches.
The council also aims to fast-track measures focused on healthcare, social welfare, and livelihood support for Manila residents, according to the office.
