Barangay Captain Manny Alba issued the reminder after a resident brought a paper bag to the barangay hall Friday night, saying he had found it in a dump at the boundary of Barangays San Miguel and Sagad.
Alba said barangay personnel immediately inspected the bag and found an item suspected to be a hand grenade or explosive device.
The incident was immediately reported to Sub‑Station 6 and the EOD Bomb Squad for proper assessment and disposal.

With this, Alba reminded the public to refrain from handling suspicious items to ensure everyone's safety from objects that may pose a danger.
“Sa ngayon, nais ipaalala ng Barangay San Miguel at ng ating kapulisan, lalo na sa ating mga kababayan na nangangalakal o kumukuha ng mga bagay mula sa basurahan, na huwag basta-basta hawakan, galawin, o buksan ang anumang kahina-hinalang bagay na maaaring explosive device o anumang mapanganib na kagamitan (Barangay San Miguel and the police are reminding the public, especially scavengers and those who collect items from trash bins, not to touch, move, or open any suspicious objects that could be explosive devices or other dangerous materials),” he said.
He added that anyone who finds a suspicious item should not touch, move, or open it. Instead, they should keep their distance, prevent others from approaching it, and immediately report it to the barangay hall, Barangay Security Force, or the nearest police station.
“Maging mapagmatyag, maging maingat, at agad na i-report ang anumang kahina-hinalang bagay. Ang kaligtasan ng bawat San Migueleño ay ating sama-samang responsibilidad (Stay alert, be careful, and report any suspicious items right away. Keeping San Migueleños safe is everyone's responsibility),” he continued.
