For Julie Anne San Jose, the sudden passing of fellow singer Vanessa Blanca was a deeply personal loss, given their shared history.
The two were members of Sugarpop during their formative years, alongside Rita Daniela, Enzo Almario, and Cholo Bismonte.
Following the news of Vanessa’s passing, Julie Anne took to Instagram to pay tribute to her friend.
Sharing a photo of them together, she wrote, “Wani… Still can't believe it...”
She added, “Sugarpop will never be the same without you. Rest in Heaven, Wani.”
Vanessa’s death was announced by her cousin, Ivy Ann Salaum Jubelag, on Facebook on Aug. 19.
According to Ivy, Vanessa was involved in an accident at the condominium where she was staying in Manila.
In a separate post, Ivy said Vanessa suffered a severe traumatic brain injury that resulted in an internal brain hemorrhage following an accidental fall.
She was 30.
Aside from being a member of Sugarpop, fans remember Vanessa for her massive single “DOTA O Ako.”
A public viewing for Vanessa is scheduled for Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. at Loyola Memorial Chapels in Commonwealth, Quezon City.
