Being onstage with Cup of Joe is one thing. Walking onto a movie set with a cast of established actors is another.

Gian Bernardino knows the difference.

The vocalist of the popular pop band is making a bigger move into acting with the Philippine adaptation of the Thai horror-comedy “Pee Mak,” a project that has him admitting to feeling nervous even before the cameras started rolling.

And it was not the movie itself that intimidated him as much as the people he would be working with.

Note the film's cast includes Wilbert Ross, Bea Binene, Vandolph, TJ Valderrama, and Jairus Aquino.

“Kinabahan po kasi siyempre nakakakaba po na mga veteran na yung mga kasama ko. Mga experienced, seasoned, talagang sobrang huhusay na mga aktor,” he told us.

Thankfully, there were more than accommodating.

“Very welcoming naman po ang energy nilang lahat and hindi ko po na-feel na baguhan ako,” he said.

That experience has helped Bernardino settle into what is his first major film role and his first major acting project with Viva Films.

“I've had acting experiences, but this is my first major one, and with Viva, my first major acting with them,” he said.

He also brings a different advantage to “Pee Mak”: his comedic side.

Bernardino has built a following online with his humorous content, something he believes makes a horror-comedy a fitting place to make his bigger screen debut.

“Sa online world, nakilala ako sa comedic humor vibes, so magandang start ito and napakagaling din ng direktor,” he said.
