Filipino-American actor Dave Bautista has been tapped to play Kratos in Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming "God of War" series.
According to Variety, Dave will replace Ryan Hurst, who had to exit due to a muscle injury that required surgery.
Production is expected to restart in the coming weeks, with Ryan’s scenes slated for reshoots.
"God of War" is an action-adventure game franchise created by David Jaffe and developed by Sony’s Santa Monica Studio.
Launched in 2005, it has since become a flagship PlayStation series with 10 installments.
Produced by Amazon Prime, the series will follow Kratos and his 10-year-old son Atreus as they journey to spread the ashes of Kratos’ late wife and Atreus’ mother, Faye, while facing gods from Norse mythology.
The series has been renewed for two seasons, which will be filmed consecutively.
Callum Vinson remains attached as Atreus, while the cast also includes Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, and Ed Skrein as Baldur.
Dave Bautista, a former professional wrestler turned Hollywood actor, is known for his physically demanding roles, including Drax in Marvel’s "Guardians of the Galaxy" and Glossu Rabban in the "Dune" franchise.
