Cathy Babao, daughter of veteran actress Caridad Sanchez, gave social media followers a glimpse of her medical journey recently.
In her Instagram post, Cathy related how overwhelmed she was with gratitude following a successful operation.
"When I opened my eyes in the recovery room and saw my surgeon’s face, my first thought was: ‘Thank you, Jesus. I’m still alive! And through the fog of anesthesia came an overwhelming sense of gratitude and grace," Cathy wrote.
The writer and grief coach gave her thanks to all the people who prayed and gave their words of encouragement as she went through the surgery.
"Thank you to every single person who prayed for me. I felt your prayers as I entered the OR, as I lay waiting to be wheeled in, and in those quiet moments when there was nothing left to do but surrender,” she added.
Cathy admitted she still has frightening moments but said the support she receives helps ease her fears.
"Perhaps that is what this season has taught me: faith does not always make fear disappear. Sometimes, it simply teaches us to walk through it,” she wrote. "Today, I am profoundly grateful to be alive."
At the end of her post, Cathy made a special shoutout to her family and doctors for being her rock on the way to recovery.
"The road to healing is still long. But I will not borrow fear from the days ahead. I will meet them with faith. I will meet them with hope. I will meet them with a grateful heart. And I will continue to pray for all those walking their own difficult roads—for those waiting for good news, facing a diagnosis, entering an operating room, or quietly battling their own fears. May we hold one another up. May we remind each other that we never walk alone," Cathy concluded.
