ILOILO CITY—Following another deadly school shooting in Zamboanga City, the Police Regional Office (PRO-6) assured the public of heightened visibility in schools across the Western Visayas region.
“I have directed all PRO-6 units to maintain appropriate police visibility around schools, sustain regular patrols, strengthen information-gathering, and coordinate closely with school authorities in continuously assessing and improving existing security measures,” said Police Brig. Gen. Randulf Tuaño, director of PRO-6.
Tuaño said police units in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Iloilo provinces, as well as the regional capital Iloilo City, will continue strengthening coordination with school administrators, local government units (LGUs), parents, and other stakeholders to prevent fatal incidents.
He urged parents, guardians, and school authorities to promptly report any suspicious student activities so proper intervention can be made.
Meanwhile, PRO-6 reminded firearm owners to be responsible and properly secure their weapons to prevent children or unauthorized individuals from gaining access.
