The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) on Thursday, Aug. 20, said it will streamline its procedures and modernize its information technology system to cut red tape and speed up transactions for members and healthcare providers.
During a press briefing, PhilHealth President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Beverly Lorraine Ho said the reforms seek to improve the experience of members, doctors, and hospitals that rely on the state health insurer’s services and processes.
“We will streamline our processes to cut red tape and speed up transactions and lessen friction for our members who rely on us, and the doctors and hospitals who deliver the much-needed services,” Ho said.
The new PhilHealth chief said the state health insurer will upgrade its IT system to make its operations more efficient.
“We’re also modernizing our IT system to improve the efficiency of our operations,” Ho said.
“We know that we cannot scale without a good IT system,” she added.
Likewise, Ho said PhilHealth intends to improve its online channels to make verified information more accessible to the public.
“And of course, to streamline our digital front doors to make it easier for everyone to find verified information,” she said.
The reforms form part of PhilHealth’s Unified National Agenda for Health (UNA), its shared agenda with the Department of Health (DOH).
The agenda is anchored on cooperation, progress, and recognition.
Ho said PhilHealth will keep its communication channels open to public feedback as it works to carry out its mandate under the Universal Health Care Act.
“That’s why we’re keeping our doors open to feedback and questions as we work together to fulfill our mandate under the UHC Law,” she said.
