SARIAYA, Quezon — A 47‑year‑old man died after being swept away by a strong current while crossing the river in Barangay Sampaloc 2 on Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Armando Albitos, a resident of Purok 7, Barangay Sampaloc Bogon.
According to the Sariaya Municipal Police Station, Albitos left his home around 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, to check on his cattle on the other side of the river.
He failed to return home and was later found in the river within Barangay Sampaloc 2. Investigators believe he was carried off by the current while crossing.
His body was recovered at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, August 19, by a search and rescue team from the Sariaya Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the Philippine National Police, and residents who joined the search.
