Former senator Grace Poe joined local officials in extending assistance to 500 families affected by the recent typhoon in Dagupan City, Pangasinan on Thursday, Aug. 20--her legendary father's birth anniversary.
A total of 250 families from Barangay Pantal and 250 families from Barangay Tapuac benefitted from the aid distribution in Dagupan City Plaza during the activity, which provided timely support to residents who were recovering from the impact of the typhoon.
Poe, daughter of the late National Artist for Film Fernando Poe Jr. (FPJ), served back-to-back terms as senator from 2013 to 2025. She is the mother of incumbent FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-List Rep. Brian Poe.
The ex-senator was joined by Dagupan City Vice Mayor Dean Bryan Kua, Councilor Danee Canto, Councilor Michael Fernandez, Councilor Joey Tamayo, Councilor Karlos Reyna, and ABC President and Councilor Lino Fernandez.
Also present was FPJ League of Pangasinan Legislators and Bugallon Councilor Edren Llanillo, who took part in the relief initiative.
The activity gave a humanitarian dimension to the commemoration, with the organizers choosing to mark FPJ’s 87th birth anniversary on Thursday by reaching out to families dealing with the aftermath of the typhoon.
For residents of Pantal and Tapuac, the assistance provided immediate support as they work to get back on their feet following the calamity.
The relief effort also highlighted the importance of cooperation among local leaders and community partners in responding to the needs of disaster-affected families.
With Poe and local officials present, the activity served both as a relief initiative and a meaningful commemoration of FPJ, who traced his roots to Pangasinan.
