'Baka pati sapatos patulan?': Kapunan smells desperation from pro-Duterte trolls

If there's a perfect word to describe pro-Duterte trolls, it's "desperate".
Thus, said private prosecutor Lorna Kapunan as he chided these netizens for forcing new narratives into the online discourse just to discredit members of the House prosecution panel in Vice President Sara Duterte's Senate impeachment trial.
“Masyado nang maingay ang trolls ngayon. So tinitira na ngayon ang mga private prosecutors. Pati nga ‘yung rubber shoes ko, baka sabihin nila katas ng impeachment, ‘yung rubber shoes ko, ‘yung sneakers ko,” Kapunan said in jest.
(The trolls are already too noisy now. So they are now attacking the private prosecutors. Even my rubber shoes, they might say those came as a result of the impeachment, my rubber shoes, my sneakers.)
“Nagiging desperate na (They're becoming desperate). Desperate moves from a desperate defense camp,” she added.
Kapunan--known as a flamboyant dresser with a penchant for stylish footwear--says trolls might even fabricate a story that the House prosecution panel received funds in duffel bags to attack the Vice President.
The veteran litigator used the term in reference to the four gym bags that former Office of the Vice President (OVP) special disbursing officer (SDO) Gina Acosta used to transport the P125 million in confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) after withdrawing the cash from the LandBank of the Philippines Shaw Blvd. branch in December 2022.
Acosta admitted to senator-judges that she turned over the money to Duterte’s then-head of security, Col. Raymund Lachica, upon her orders. This was a big no-no since Lachica wasn't an SDO.
Kapunan urged the public to focus on the issues being discussed in the impeachment trial and not be sidetracked by what she called the “diversionary tactics” of the Vice President’s camp.
“I think we should focus on the impeachment case. Obvious na diversionary tactic ang ginagawa ng [OVP]. Ginagawa nilang other narrative,” she said.
(The OVP is obviously carrying out diversionary tactics. They're creating other narratives.)
