- Sue Ramirez mourns the passing of her mother, labor leader Concepcion "Chit" Dodd, following her health struggles and open-heart surgery earlier this year.
Sue Ramirez is mourning the loss of her mother, Concepcion “Chit” Dodd, who passed away on Aug. 17.
The actress shared the heartbreaking news through Instagram Stories, posting a photo of herself with her mother.
“Mahal na mahal na mahal kita,” Sue wrote, adding a white heart.
In another post, Sue was inside a car as rain poured outside.
“Kasabay kong umiyak ang langit,” she wrote, alongside a broken heart emoji.
The posts offered a glimpse into Sue’s grief following the death of her mother, whose health struggles the actress had previously shared with her followers.
In January, Sue appealed for blood donors for Chit, who was preparing to undergo open-heart surgery. Her mother also contracted pneumonia before the procedure.
A week after the appeal, Sue said the surgery had been completed and that Chit was recovering. She continued to ask for prayers for her mother during her recovery.
Sue’s former boyfriend, Negros Occidental Third District Rep. Javi Benitez, also remembered Chit in an emotional tribute posted on Facebook.
Javi shared a photo of Chit holding a bouquet of flowers, saying this was how he would remember her.
He described Chit as someone with strong opinions and principles who fought for Filipino workers.
Chit was a labor leader who served as vice president of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP), a federation of labor unions advocating for workers’ rights and welfare.
