Several roads in Malabon and Valenzuela were flooded on Wednesday, Aug. 19, following continuous rains over Metro Manila.
In Malabon City, flood monitoring at 12 noon showed several areas with water levels ranging from below gutter height to knee‑deep.
The deepest flooding was recorded along University Avenue in Barangay Potrero, where water reached about 15 inches, or knee‑deep, making the area impassable to light vehicles.
Gutter-level flooding of around eight inches was also recorded along Burgos in Barangay Concepcion, Don Basilio Bautista in Hulong Duhat, Rizal Avenue-Magsaysay in San Agustin, and portions of Barangay Tañong.
Other affected areas recorded around one to six inches of floodwater but remained passable to all types of vehicles.
Floodwaters had already subsided in several locations, including Maria Clara in Barangay Acacia, F. Sevilla Exit in San Agustin, M.H. Del Pilar and Lascano in Tugatog, Yanga in Tinajeros, and P. Aquino in Tonsuya.
Meanwhile, several roads in Valenzuela City were also flooded as of 3 p.m., with some areas becoming impassable to vehicles.
Lingunan Bridge and T. Santiago-Rubber Master in Lingunan were not passable to all types of vehicles after floodwaters reached around 24 to 25 inches.
T. Santiago-Mayers and T. Santiago-Raminel to Plastic in Lingunan, as well as F. Santos and A. Santos Streets in Pasolo, were not passable to light vehicles.
Flooding was also monitored in portions of Malanday, Dalandanan, Canumay East, Canumay West, Pasolo, and Mabolo.
Despite the flooding, MacArthur Highway remained passable to all types of vehicles, with water levels ranging from surface water to around eight inches in monitored areas.
No flooded areas were monitored along Maysan, Paso de Blas-NLEX, and Bagbaguin as of 3 p.m.
The local governments advised residents and motorists to exercise caution and continue monitoring official advisories as rains persist.
