Operatives of the Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS) arrested a 49‑year‑old security guard for allegedly shooting his co‑worker inside a plastic manufacturing facility in Barangay Lawang Bato.

Police said the victim, a 52-year-old machine operator, was wounded in the incident that occurred at around 1:40 p.m. inside a compound on Mulawinan Street.

Personnel of VCPS Sub-station 7 responded to the area and arrested the suspect.

The victim was brought to Valenzuela Medical Center, where he underwent treatment and observation.

According to the police report, the firearm allegedly used in the shooting had been issued by a security services agency to another security guard assigned at the same facility.

Police said the suspect was not authorized to use the firearm and failed to present documents showing that he was legally allowed to possess it.

The suspect will face charges for frustrated murder and violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, over the alleged unauthorized possession and use of the firearm.

Authorities are conducting further investigation to determine the circumstances and motive behind the incident.
