Perpetual Help continued to ramp up its preparation for the NCAA juniors basketball tournament by adding seven new recruits with the brand-new Season 102 kicking off on Sept. 13 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Coming off a quarterfinal exit last season, the Junior Altas, with Joph Cleopas at the helm, are out to improve their finish with new faces leading their bid to reclaim the crown they last won in the centennial season.
Leading the newcomers are Filipino-British players in 6-foot-5 Max Maurice, 16, and 6-foot-3 Daniel Okeowo, 17. Also joining the team is 6-foot-2 Adrian Faustino who was previously based in Austria.
Aside from foreign new blood, local talents are primed to take charge as well in Sizco Roquid of Biñan, Laguna, Keith Sabuco of Eastern Samar, Brian Orca Jr. of Olongapo City, and Kevin Castro of Binmaley, Pangasinan.
Following its sixth-place finish with a 6-7 card in Season 101, the new recruits will try to fill the void left by Jim Corpuz, Kurt Velasquez, and Renzo Zanoria, who have all climbed to Perpetual’s senior squad.
Backing up the team are several holdovers in Louie Rosales, Kurt Patalinghug, and Ezekiel Zamoras, part of the Junior Altas’ supremacy two years ago, Lord Dulanas, Arkin Cristobal, Sam Villaruel, John Restificar Francis Rosales and Josh Saga.
