For BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, Paris was more than a city she visited for Dior. It had become a place that felt like home, largely because of the people she came to love there.
So the news of Mathilde Favier’s death came as a devastating loss.
Favier, Dior’s director of public relations, died in a car accident in France on Aug. 18. She was 57.
French newspaper Le Monde reported that Favier and her partner, film producer Nicolas Altmayer, 61, died after their vehicle collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction while they were overtaking another vehicle.
Jisoo, who has worked closely with Favier since becoming part of the Dior family, shared an emotional tribute to the longtime Dior executive.
“Dear Mathilde, it's hard to find the words to say goodbye,” Jisoo wrote.
She recalled how Favier welcomed her warmly from the beginning of her journey with Dior and how their professional relationship eventually grew into a much more personal bond.
“Over the years, we shared so many special moments, and I will always be grateful for the care, love, and support you showed me along the way,” she said.
For Jisoo, some of those memories were made away from the cameras and fashion events.
She remembered the birthdays they celebrated together, as well as the time their families spent together in Paris.
“You made Paris feel like another home to me,” Jisoo said.
And perhaps most painfully, she shared that she had been looking forward to seeing Favier again in Paris.
“I was looking forward to seeing you again in Paris and celebrating together, which makes this goodbye even harder,” she wrote.
Jisoo described Favier as “such a beautiful person, inside and out,” adding that she felt “incredibly lucky” to have known her and to have had her as such a special part of her life.
“My heart goes out to your family and to everyone who knew and loved you,” she said. “I will miss you deeply and carry our memories with me always.”
“Rest in peace, Mathilde. You will never be forgotten.”
Dior also announced Favier’s death, remembering her as a key figure in shaping the image and reputation of Christian Dior Couture.
“In her role as Director of Public Relations, Mathilde Favier made an incredible contribution to the reputation of Christian Dior Couture through her commitment and elegance,” the fashion house said. “She was an exceptional woman whose communicative joy, talent and loyalty were exemplary.”
Delphine Arnault, chairperson and chief executive officer of Christian Dior Couture, mourned not only a valued colleague but also a close friend.
“Mathilde loved life with a passion,” Arnault said. “With the passing of Mathilde, Dior is losing an incredible professional, and I have lost a loyal friend.”
Arnault also remembered Favier’s optimism and courage, saying her smile and talent would be deeply missed.
“I feel deeply saddened today; my thoughts are very much with her children, her mother, her sisters, her family, her many friends and her team she loved so much,” she said.
