BACOLOD CITY - The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Negros Island Region (DSWD-NIR) has released P4.14 million in Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) cash assistance to a total of 2,070 beneficiaries during a three-day payout here.
Around 3,000 people were targeted for the said program, but only 2,070 were qualified to receive P2,000 each during the payout at SM City Bacolod from August 10 to 12 in coordination with the local government.
The agency served 624 beneficiaries on August 10, 643 on August 11, and 805 on August 12.
These recipients were classified under Group 2 which are poor and near-poor based on the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and entitled to receive the said cash aid per month from July to December, as they address their household needs and other essential expenses.
For beneficiaries who were unable to personally go to the payout venue, DSWD personnel directly released the aid to their homes.
Recognizing the circumstances of the beneficiaries, a door-to-door operation enabled the agency to facilitate the delivery of their UPLIFT cash assistance.
“Because delivering assistance is not only about reaching a payout venue—it is about reaching the people who need it most,” the DSWD-NIR stated.
This initiative ensured that qualified beneficiaries are not left behind, particularly those who face significant mobility challenges.
By bringing assistance closer to their homes, the agency continues to promote accessible, responsive, and compassionate social protection service.
