The Taguig police denied claims that they were slow to respond to a shooting incident in Barangay Sta. Ana on Aug. 17 that left a 40‑year‑old man dead and another injured.
The suspect, who fled after the shooting, was described as a man riding a motorcycle and wearing a black helmet, blue sweatshirt, and white pants.
An online post alleged that it took nearly 30 minutes before police arrived at the scene.
“Sa katunayan, agad na rumesponde ang mga police patroller na malapit sa pinangyarihan at iniulat ang insidente sa Tactical Operation Center. Agad namang isinagawa ang dragnet operation at ipinatupad ang kaukulang alarm protocols upang mapabilis ang pagtugis at pagkakaaresto sa tumakas na suspek (In fact, police patrollers near the scene immediately responded and reported the incident to the Tactical Operation Center. A dragnet operation was immediately conducted and the corresponding alarm protocols were implemented to expedite the pursuit and arrest of the fleeing suspect),” the Taguig police station said.
Police also clarified that no student was hurt in the incident. The injured man is being treated at a hospital.
Authorities urged the public not to spread or share unverified information that may cause fear or compromise the ongoing investigation.
