SM Seaside Cebu Arena draws strong corporate suite demand ahead of grand launch
Sy-led SM Prime Holdings Inc. (SM Prime) is seeing strong demand for the Premier Suites of SM Seaside Cebu Arena and aims to fully lease these out by the time they are ready for the grand launch of the venue later this year or in 2027.
“Premium suites have become a popular feature at leading sports and entertainment venues worldwide because they elevate the live event experience. They also give businesses a more engaging way to connect with clients, partners and employees,” SM Prime President Jeffrey C. Lim told a media briefing.
SM Prime Chief Finance Officer (CFO) John Nai Peng Ong said they have already leased out 10 of the 24 available premier corporate suites just a month after the arena’s trade launch.
“We have 30 suites of which 24 are premier and six are sports and events suites. As we speak, we have already booked around 10 of the 24 premier suites. The sports events suites, these are short-term basis and basically event basis, whereas the premier suites, these are on a minimum one-year term or a maximum of around two to three years terms,” he explained.
Early suite partners at SM Seaside Cebu Arena include Bai Hotel, Cebu Landmasters Inc., Cokaliong Shipping Lines, Dynamic Power Marine & Industrial Hardware Inc., Nature’s Spring, Skyrise Realty and Development Corp., and University of Cebu.
Available for lease exclusively to brands and corporations, the 40-square-meter (sqm) suites are designed to accommodate up to 30 guests, featuring lounge and theater-style seating, a private restroom, dedicated VIP access, high-speed Wi-Fi, and prime views of live events.
Partners have the option to tailor their suites with branded furnishings and installations to give their guests a distinctive experience.
At SM Seaside Cebu Arena, suite holders also enjoy exclusive access to six multipurpose function rooms, providing an ideal venue for meetings, corporate events, and other business engagements.
Lim noted that large-scale entertainment venues such as Madison Square Garden, The O2 Arena, and Mercedes-Benz Arena Shanghai offer private suites in a variety of formats and configurations.
In the Philippines, SM Prime pioneered the premium suite concept with the opening of SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in 2012, introducing the first corporate hospitality offering of its kind in Southeast Asia.
Since then, SM Prime has steadily upgraded its facilities and services to meet the evolving needs of its suite holders.
SM arenas provide advance event advisories, direct office ticket delivery, dedicated suite attendants, and customized menus from Premiere Café and accredited caterers.
Among its valued suite holders are Aboitiz Group, ABS-CBN, Cignal TV, Citicore Renewable Energy Corp., Coca-Cola, Globe Telecom, Meralco, Nestlé Philippines, Philippine Airport Ground Support Solutions (PAGSS), PLDT, Power Stroke Motor Products Corp., PremiumLeisure Amusement Inc., San Miguel Corp., Solaire Resort Entertainment City, Sun Life Philippines, The Mont Property Group Inc., Unilever Philippines, and Visa.
Meanwhile, Lim said they are still trying to book a major artist, and the date for the grand opening of SM Seaside Cebu Arena will depend on that.
“If we don’t get it this year, then we might move it to next year,” he said.
“Anyway, we are getting more bookings also for the second half. So that should work in our favor and give us more time to find the right act to officially launch the arena,” he added.
