The operation was carried out at around 3:20 a.m. on August 14 inside a house on Maria Cristina Street in Barangay 455, Zone 45, Sampaloc.
Arrested were 68-year-old Guillermo Manguerra, alias “Bida/Bebot,” and 53-year-old Arlene Lorenzo, alias “Beng,” both residents of the area.
According to the MPD, authorities recovered five medium-sized plastic sachets and five knot-tied transparent plastic bags containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The seized drugs had an estimated total weight of 525 grams, with a standard drug price value of approximately P3.57 million.
Police said the suspects attempted to evade arrest by jumping from the second floor of the house.
Manguerra sustained injuries to both legs and was later brought to a hospital for medical treatment.
Lorenzo remains detained at the MPD Drug Enforcement Unit custodial facility and is facing charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
