Hong Kong Disneyland is set to add new experiences centered around Pixar and The Avengers.
Recently announced during D23 in the US, details surrounding future park upgrades include additions to the current Toy Story Land attraction and a complete Marvel takeover in Tomorrowland.
Set to debut in 2027, Toy Story Land will be adding a Pixar theatre experience that features exclusive characters for Hong Kong Disneyland. The new show stars a plush toy named Poppy and her owner, Aria, as they move from Hong Kong to the neighborhood of Andy in "Toy Story." Sheriff Woody then takes Poppy and the audience on a tour to meet other iconic Pixar characters from "Monsters Inc.," "Cars," "The Incredibles," and so on. Toy Story Land is also set to see some new additions that focus on the local culture of Hong Kong.
One of the biggest reveals is the upcoming Marvel takeover of Tomorrowland. Soon to rise are the brand new Avengers Research Testing Labs, where parkgoers can try the indoor drop tower alongside Spider-Man. Guests are expected to experience a free-fall of up to 100 feet as they travel to distinct Marvel destinations like Asgard and Wakanda. New expansions to the current Avengers Pavilion are also expected to launch, opening up a landing space for meet-and-greets, as well as new stores and dining options to try out.
Currently, Hong Kong Disneyland remains one of the top destinations for Filipinos to visit. This is largely due to it being one of the closest and more budget-friendly Disneylands for Filipino travelers to enjoy. Data provided by the Hong Kong Tourism Board shows that of the 1.19 million Filipino visitors it had last year, an estimated eight out of 10 Filipino tourists opted to visit Hong Kong Disneyland. It also helps that the park has many Filipino staff who keep the magical experience running. Based on a previous interview we had with the park's managing director at the time, Michael Moriarty, he estimated that up to 100 Filipinos make up the cast members.
