Model and actor Basty Askri, best known to many for his appearance in "Ticktoclock," has apologized for the inappropriate language he used in his viral post about the 911 emergency hotline.
In a follow-up Facebook post recently, Basty acknowledged that he was overwhelmed by fear, grief, and anger following his father's heart attack, which later proved fatal.
"I would like to sincerely apologize for the inappropriate words I used regarding the 911 hotline," Basty said.
"I was extremely emotional and overwhelmed by what was happening to my father at that time. I'm very sorry po."
Basty admitted that, amid his anger and confusion, he initially blamed some of the people involved because he did not fully understand what was happening at the time.
He also apologized for the confusion caused by his earlier account of the ambulance response.
Basty later learned that the patient transport vehicle that arrived at their home came from their barangay and was not the ambulance dispatched by 911.
Basty explained that his reaction came from fear and frustration as he and his family tried to save his father's life.
"We were scared, we were grieving, and we were trying to save my father's life," he said.
"Nagre-react po ako dahil sa takot at galit, pero inaamin ko rin po kapag may kailangan akong itama."
Basty said he and his family have decided not to make further statements about the incident while authorities investigate what happened.
He ended by reiterating his apology for his outburst and the confusion caused by his initial post.
"Again, I'm sincerely sorry for the inappropriate words I used regarding 911," Basty said.
