Baguio City receives technical assistance from UK for water security
BAGUIO CITY – Baguio City has received support from the British government that will help improve the Summer Capital’s water security and management initiatives.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong formally accepted technical assistance from the United Kingdom under the Green Cities, Infrastructure and Energy Programme (GCIEP), to expand the city’s water supply.
These include the Baguio Bulk Water Supply Feasibility Study and the ISO 37001 Anti-Bribery Management System Roadmap, both of which are expected to support the city’s efforts to improve public service delivery, strengthen transparency, and promote sustainable development in the city.
According to Magalong, the feasibility study will help advance the city’s long-term goal of achieving a more resilient and reliable water supply system in collaboration with the Baguio Water District (BWD) and other development partners.
The important milestone aims to provide a continuous water supply to approximately 260,000 residents, addressing one of Baguio’s long-standing infrastructure challenges while supporting future growth.
He said the anti-corruption governance roadmap reinforces the city’s commitment to good governance and accountability in public service.
He thanked the British Embassy in Manila and the city’s development partners for their continued support and collaboration, saying the partnership helps build a more resilient, prepared, and prosperous Baguio.
