CALACA, Batangas- Two individuals were arrested for oil pilferage when they were caught in the act of siphoning residual gasoline from an oil tanker in Barangay Quizumbing on Monday morning, Aug. 17.
Arrested were suspects named as Jayson and Joven, residents of the said place.
At about 9 a.m., police caught the suspects in the act of siphoning residual gasoline from a Sinotruk truck, with registered bearing plate no. NLC 9211, with a heavy trailer plate no. NUC 4041.
During investigation, the suspects failed to present any authority, permit, receipt, or other pertinent documents authorizing the transfer of the petroleum product into a container, in violation of the provisions of P.D. 1865. (Oil Pilferage Law)
Inspection disclosed that the activity was not part of a legitimate oil delivery process from the source of origin to its intended destination.
The tanker truck was reportedly en route to an oil depot for the purpose of emptying its remaining fuel prior to refilling its diesel fuel supply. The unauthorized transfer of the residual gasoline into a container, without the necessary authority or supporting documents, prompted the responding personnel to apprehend the suspects and secure the tanker truck and other relevant evidence.
Police confiscated a 25-liter container containing gasoline product, with an estimated volume of 25 liters, with an estimated value of P1,750.00, and an improvised funnel.
