BACOLOD CITY - Authorities seized P5.3 million worth of suspected shabu from three individuals, including a virtual assistant and a teenager in weekend drug bust operations in Negros Occidental.
A 21-year-old virtual assistant was arrested in Barangay 12 here on Sunday, August 16, with 350 grams of suspected shabu worth P2.3 million. The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) tagged him as a high value individual.
He allegedly distributed illegal drugs to his customers in Barangays 12, 16, and 35, as well as other neighboring barangays in this city, according to the police.
On August 14, 335.87 grams of suspected shabu worth P2.2 million were also seized from a 27-year-old store and junkshop owner in San Carlos City. The suspect allegedly uses his sari-sari store as a front for his illegal activities.
On that same day, an 18-year-old man was also busted with 100 grams of suspected shabu worth P680,000 in Barangay Alijis here.
The suspect, also tagged as a high value individual, had been previously arrested for a drug offense in 2023 but was referred to the Social Development Center (SDC) here for intervention because he was a minor at that time.
Further investigation also revealed that he was reportedly selling illegal drugs to customers inside their residence, the PRO-NIR said.
According to PRO-NIR, the substantial volume of suspected shabu recovered represents a significant disruption to the illegal drug supply and underscores the effectiveness of the region’s intelligence-driven and targeted law enforcement operations.
“We will remain relentless, intelligence-driven, and uncompromising in pursuing those who profit from the illegal drug trade,” said Police Brig Gen. Romano Cardiño, PRO-NIR director.
The regional office called on the public to remain vigilant and support law enforcement efforts by providing timely and reliable information on illegal drug activities in their communities.
