Several Metro Manila cities suspend Aug. 17 classes amid rains

Several areas in Metro Manila suspended face-to-face classes for Monday, Aug. 17, as the southwest monsoon or habagat continued to bring rain over the region.
As of the latest announcements, class suspensions in Metro Manila include:
Caloocan City — all levels, public and private
Las Piñas City — all levels, public and private
Malabon City — all levels, public and private
Manila — preschool to senior high school, public and private; all levels, public and private starting 12 noon
Muntinlupa City — all levels, public and private
Parañaque City — all levels, public and private
Pasay City — all levels, public and private
Pateros — preschool to senior high school, public and private
Valenzuela City — all levels, public and private
Quezon City – preschool to senior high school, public and private
Marikina - all levels, public and private
Mandaluyong - all levels, public and private
Makati - all levels, public and private
The list is subject to updates as local governments issue additional announcements.
Classes may also be suspended at the local level when weather conditions deteriorate or when flooding and other hazards pose risks to students and school personnel. (With reports from Metro Team)
